The Center was established by the Directorate General of Education in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate as an annex to the Educational Training Center in Nizwa, with the support of a number of institutions operating in the oil and gas sector. The ceremony was sponsored by His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Ali bin Abdullah Al Alawi, Head of the Communications Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His Excellency the Ambassador removed the commemorative plaque from the center, marking the launch of its activities. After that, he and the attendees listened to a live interactive presentation about the project, which addressed its implementation stages and components. He then opened the five halls and toured them to learn about their contents and the attractive activities and programs they include. At the end of the ceremony, the sponsor honored the supporters, participating schools and participating students. The idea of establishing the Science and Technology Center came to help society understand and comprehend science and scientific culture, and to motivate them to participate in it by offering interactive activities that allow different segments of society the opportunity to enjoy participating and discover scientific facts for themselves. The center includes five halls in its first phase: the Robotics Lab and the Young Inventor Hall, which were established with support from Oman LNG. They were equipped with integrated bags containing parts used in manufacturing robots. This hall helps provide new, distinctive, and qualitative teaching methods and strategies with the aim of advancing and achieving the best results in students’ performance and achievement, developing their thinking skills, and preparing them for the local and global labor markets. The Zspace Lab interactive education system laboratory, which was established with support from Daleel Oil Services Company, is a 3D virtual platform that enables users to interact directly in a 3D simulation environment and conduct lively interactive experiments characterized by a high level of accuracy to build an interactive environment containing holographic imaging, which relies on modern information technology that can reconstruct the image of original objects in their three dimensions to a very high degree and convert the real image into a virtual image on the system screen that simulates reality. The fourth hall is the Science and Technology Laboratory, which represents the most important topics that coincide with our daily lives. This hall helps explore scientific facts, theories, and knowledge in the fields of physics, biology, and chemistry, striving to achieve a firm belief that matches reality and creates an image in the mind through scientific demonstrations and experiments. The fifth hall specializes in nanotechnology, where nanotechnology is used in light and heavy industries, through the precise use of manufacturing technology. It also attempts to reduce the size of industries and enable them to achieve their primary goal with smaller sizes. It also seeks to alleviate economic burdens by finding less expensive solutions, such as the manufacture of energy-saving lighting units that operate using LED technology. This technology is also present in television screens and smartphones, which have become more beautiful and clear. There are plans to add two more halls: the 7D Cinema Educational Hall and the Educational Studio, which will provide broad and tangible steps for the production and educational and illustrative tools for school curricula.
