Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 10, 2026
Oman School Finder (“OSF”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a schools directory and school-profile management platform operated by Horizon Path SPC (Muscat, Sultanate of Oman).
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you:
- browse our directory and resources, and/or
- submit a claim request and use the school admin dashboard, and/or
- submit an inquiry to a school through OSF.
Contact (Privacy): hi@omanschoolfinder.com
1) What this policy covers
This policy covers personal data processed through OSF, including:
- Visitors (browsing the directory)
- School Admins (claiming/verified accounts and dashboard use)
- Parents/Guardians (inquiries submitted to schools)
We follow the principles of transparency and data minimization: we collect only what we need to run OSF and improve safety and quality.
2) Who is responsible for your data (Controller)
Controller: Horizon Path SPC (Muscat, Oman)
Contact: hi@horizonpath.io
When you submit an inquiry, the relevant school will receive your inquiry details. After a school receives your inquiry, it may process your data for responding and admissions follow-up under its own policies and responsibilities.
3) What we collect
A) Visitors (browsing)
We do not require sign-ups to browse the directory. Like most websites, limited technical data may be processed automatically, such as:
- IP address, basic request logs, browser/device type
- performance and security signals (e.g., rate-limit events)
We use this data for security, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, and performance. We do not use it to build “profiles” about you.
B) “Schools near me” (location feature)
If you choose to use “near me”, your browser/device may ask for location permission.
- We use it to show nearby schools and map results.
- We do not need to store your precise location to provide this feature.
- If we store any location-related event for analytics, it will be coarse and non-identifying (e.g., “feature used”), not your exact coordinates.
C) School Admins (claim + dashboard)
When a school representative submits a claim request and/or uses the dashboard, we may collect:
- Name, role/title, work email, phone number
- school affiliation details (e.g., which school you claim)
- login/authentication events (for account security)
- dashboard activity needed to publish updates (e.g., edits you submit)
Verification documents (private):
To verify authorization, we may request and store documents such as official letters, licenses, or other proof of authority. These documents:
- are stored securely with restricted access
- are used only for verification and fraud prevention
- are not shared publicly and not sold
D) Parents/Guardians (school inquiries)
If you submit an inquiry, we may collect:
- Parent/guardian name, email, phone
- inquiry message and preferences
- limited child-related details only if you provide them (e.g., grade level)
We do not ask for sensitive identity numbers or documents for inquiries. Please avoid sharing any sensitive personal data in messages.
E) User content (photos, logos, school information)
If a verified school admin uploads content (e.g., logo, photos) or edits school info, we store that content to display it on OSF.
4) How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- operate the directory and show school profiles
- verify school claims and prevent impersonation
- create and manage school admin accounts after verification
- allow verified admins to update their school pages
- process and route parent inquiries to schools
- send service messages (e.g., claim status, verification updates, security notices)
- measure and improve performance and reliability
- maintain internal analytics (e.g., page views, clicks, inquiries) and (later) show analytics to verified school admins
- comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests
5) Consent and marketing
A) Marketing consent (separate opt-in)
We send marketing communications only if you explicitly opt in:
- School Admin marketing (product updates, features, offers)
- Parent/guardian marketing (if you choose to opt in)
You can opt out anytime using the unsubscribe link (email) or by contacting us.
B) SMS (future)
If we launch SMS marketing, we will request separate explicit opt-in and provide an easy opt-out method.
6) Analytics, cookies, and similar technologies
We may use:
- essential cookies (security/session) needed for core functionality
- limited analytics (to understand traffic and improve OSF)
We do not intentionally use cookies for personal profiling. If we introduce additional analytics or tracking that requires consent, we will update this policy and (where appropriate) provide a consent mechanism.
7) Advertising and sponsored placements
We may show education-related ads or sponsored placements. Sponsored content will be labeled.
We do not sell personal data. If we use third-party advertising services in the future, they may set their own cookies/identifiers. If that happens, we will update this policy and provide appropriate controls where required.
8) Sharing and disclosures
We may share information only as needed:
- With schools: inquiry details are forwarded to the selected school to respond to you.
- With service providers (processors): hosting, storage, email delivery, security tooling—only to operate OSF under contractual safeguards.
- For legal reasons: if required by applicable laws or valid legal requests.
We do not sell personal data.
9) International processing
Some service providers may process data on infrastructure located outside Oman. When this happens, we apply appropriate safeguards and limit access based on need-to-know, consistent with applicable requirements.
10) Data security
We use practical security measures, such as:
- access controls and least-privilege permissions
- protected storage for verification documents
- monitoring and logging for abuse prevention
- secure transmission (HTTPS)
No system is 100% secure, but we work to reduce risks and respond quickly to incidents.
11) Data retention
We retain data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above:
- Technical logs: typically short retention for security/troubleshooting.
- Claim/verification records: kept as long as needed to verify and to prevent fraud (and may be retained longer where needed for dispute/security reasons).
- Verification documents: retained only as necessary for verification and compliance, then deleted or restricted.
- Inquiries: retained to support delivery to schools, follow-up, audit/security, and dashboard history.
- Admin edits and audit history: retained for integrity, dispute resolution, and security.
You may request deletion where applicable (see “Your rights”).
12) Your rights (Oman)
Under Oman’s Personal Data Protection Law (Royal Decree 6/2022), you may have rights to:
- withdraw consent
- request correction/updates
- obtain a copy of your data
- request transfer of data (where applicable)
- request erasure (where applicable)
- be notified of a personal data breach as required by law
To exercise your rights, contact: hi@omanschoolfinder.com
We may need to verify your identity before responding.
13) Children’s data
OSF is intended for general audiences and parents/guardians.
If you submit an inquiry containing a child’s information, you confirm you are the child’s parent/guardian or authorized to provide it, and you will not provide sensitive documents or identity numbers through OSF.
If you believe we processed a child’s data improperly, contact us and we will review and act where appropriate.
14) Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated via notices on OSF or by email (if we have your contact details).
